Its been a hectic month, moving back to scotland, new job, starting back to university , diving into Honors project work and generally just the business of life . Somehow with all that going on; I got on a plane and headed off for the longest skate in my life - so far. The Paris Roller Marathon.

It was a day of firsts, I'd never attempted this kind of distance before, i hadnt skated in paris before and had only a vauge idea of the surfaces and route id signed up for; I'd trained a bit but this was something else.

We got unlucky with the weather; a nice dry, not overly warm morning followed by rain as the starter gun fired for the elite skaters to begin. My category would start 30mins later once the roads had time to get good and slidey from the rain. Excellent.

Despite less than ideal conditions, thankfully after only one fall, some energy gels and a lot of skating. I crossed the line in 2hrs 36mins; not bad for a first time. Soaked through, exhausted and suddently aware of the cold weather, never had orange slices and coke tasted so good.

Guess I better start training for next years events.

Next stop : LeMans 24hrRoller.
